Active Voice Biometrics is an approach to using Voice Biometrics that requires the user to say additional utterances that would not otherwise have been required when calling or interacting with a speech service for authentication or enrolment.
This form of Voice Biometric authentication most often takes the form of a user repeating a specified passphrase such as “My Voice is My Password” in an automated application. The genuine customer will be asked to record the phrase several times for enrolment during registration. Because the phrase recording and the authentication step require extra effort from the customer over and above their reason for calling, we refer to it as Active.
